I am in such a good mood! I mentioned yesterday that I had lofty ambitions for today, and for the most part I am thrilled with how they came out! I’m actually wondering now why I thought they would be so difficult to do, because they were actually pretty dang easy. In fact, the hardest part was choosing which foods to use.
I eventually narrowed it down to green beans, pies (pumpkin and pecan), mashed potatoes and gravy, and deviled eggs. All among my favorites, although I did sadly have to choose to exclude sweet potato casserole and mac and cheese.
And now for a color break-down. The green bean nail used China Glaze Gaga for Green, Sinful Colors Exotic Green, Poppy Polish Olive You, and Essie In Stitches (to represent pieces of bacon), and the pie nail used FingerPaints Paper Mache, OPI A-Piers to Be Tan, Poppy Polish Barefoot, Kleancolor Tangerine Burst, Barry M Paprika, and Zoya Louise. The potato nail was made with Paper Mache, Essie-Limo-scene, and A-Piers to Be Tan, and the egg nail with Paper Mache, Maybelline Color Show Electric Yellow, Revlon Parfumerie Sunlit Grass, and Paprika (to represent actual paprika, of course!).
I’m so glad I had the patience to sit down and try these! I’m not especially happy with the green beans, but I certainly don’t dislike them. And I’m so happy with the other nails that I really don’t care if they’re perfect or not. 😛
But I wasn’t entirely pleased with how shiny and…flat?…everything looked with the top coat, so I added a matte coat to see if it was better.
Of course it’s better! Who was I even kidding there?
BUT! I did, for once, have to foresight to take a few photos before adding that initial top coat, and I have to say I love the very slight textured look for these nails.
So, yeah, that’s that! Sorry for being so wordy and having so many pictures here, but I really had fun with it! It was a nice way to wind-down from the 6+ hours of reading archaeology texts that I did today. 🙂
I’m not quite sure what I’ll do for fall colors tomorrow, so it should be interesting figuring that out!
