Happy Halloween!

And finally, it’s Halloween!  Despite the fact that I’m not actually doing anything fun this year (I don’t even have any candy!), it’s still one of my favorite holidays.  I wish I was doing something more, but oh well.  I got to paint my nails at least.

I went ‘gross’ for today’s nail art, and did nails inspired by a bloody design by The Daily Nail.

And because I was curious if I could pull it off, I also tried out PiggieLuv’s bloody scratches idea on my thumb.  I didn’t bother with acrylic paint or blood gel, just my nail polish.  I think it turned out pretty well though.  I also added a bit of a darker tone to make the flesh look mottled and unhealthy.

I’m really pleased with how these turned out.  They look pretty nasty in person. 😛

Freehand Halloween mani

Day two of my impromptu three day countdown to Halloween!  Like I said I would yesterday, I went freehand today.  It was a nice, easy reintroduction to freehand nail art and I like how fun and bright this turned out to be.

Since I used a lot of darker colors and ‘scary’ characters last year, this year I decided to try out something more cutesy.  So I have a more-confused-than-spooky ghost, a grinning jack-o’-lantern, some spindly-legged spiders, and a handful of creepy eyeballs.

Not too shabby!  Granted, everything is really simplistic, but I like it.  Tomorrow I’m going for creepy or gross though, since it’s Halloween!

Getting back into the swing of things – Halloween vinyl mani

Hello all!  It’s been, what, almost three months since my last post?  I’ll admit that the OMD3 challenge sort of burnt me out, and on top of fieldwork and data collection, my move to a new house, and a visit from my sister, I haven’t had very much time to sit down and do more than paint my nails a single color.  Which I have actually done, by the way.  I’m trying to go through all of my untrieds, so I have still been painting my nails at least. 😛

But to get back into the swing of things, I’ve been trying out some of the vinyls I bought from Twinkled T a while back.  And that’s what I did for my first Halloween mani of the year using Pretty & Polished Crush (an untried) and Colors by Llarowe Black Gold, Texas Tea.

I had a bit of an issue at the tip there, but I managed to fix it well enough.  I love both of these polishes, and am glad I decided to go holo for this.  Can’t believe I almost went creme instead!

And even though you can see Crush pretty well in the photos above, here are some of it alone.

I don’t even like orange, but this is so pretty under intense light.  Definitely great for Halloween.  Speaking of…tomorrow I’m going to try my hand at freehand for the first time since the beginning of August.  Here’s hoping it turns out okay!
